That was a big issue when I swapped in the v2203. I was lucky enough to find the correct cam (used) on eBay.

Locked engine: v2203 in L2850... suggestions?

Since I'm short on time and really need the tractor, I'm probably just going to buy another used refer engine and put it in. I doubt I can do any level of rebuild any cheaper. Thanks everyone for the help.

Locked engine: v2203 in L2850... suggestions?

Ok, I finally found enough time to get the oil pan off... what a PITA. I found what appears to be both halves of a thrust bearing in the pan. Should I assume this has caused enough damage to at least require turning the crank and replacing the bearings?

Locked engine: v2203 in L2850... suggestions?

I wish it could be that easy, the first two things I removed were the starter and belt. Not by any wisdom, just thought I might have a bad starter at first, then needed more room to get to the front of the engine. Thanks everyone for your help, keep it coming. Rob

Locked engine: v2203 in L2850... suggestions?

Ok, I had few people do the sniff test on the oil. They said it just smelled like used oil to them. (I can't smell anything, so I have to rely on others) I found nothing in the oil filter. Everything looks normal under the valve cover. Pulled the hydraulic pump, it seems ok and the engine...

Locked engine: v2203 in L2850... suggestions?

Hoping for guidance... The engine locked up while being used. Just suddenly stopped. The oil on the dip stick looked good. Coolant looked good. Pulled the glow plugs. They were dry, tried to turn the engine with them out... nothing. Drained the oil. No metal or foreign fluids, etc...

    L2850 V1702 di > V2203 di conversion

I've been running a 2203 in my L2850 for about a year and a half. (Locked up this week, topic for another thread). I'd be happy to answer any questions. One area of caution, I replaced the entire dual stage clutch. With the bolts in the pressure plate fingers as far out as I felt comfortable...

L2850 New Clutch not fully disengaging ?

After taking the vent of the side of the clutch housing, it could have used a little adjustment on the bolts on the fingers of the clutch. Many of you will not approve of my methods, but there was no way I was splitting the tractor again (unless I absolutely had to). I removed about 3/32" of...

L2850 New Clutch not fully disengaging ?

I wanted to see if anyone had an suggestions before I get too deep into this. I have less than 10 minutes on my new dual stage clutch in my L2850. The problem is with the clutch linkage adjusted now to where the lever hits the gear case, the clutch is still not fully disengaging. is it...

L2850 v2203 swap injection cam problem

Quick background: I bought the tractor with a bad motor. After an exhaustive search for a v1702 or v1902 in good condition, I settled for a low hour v2203. Now the problem: the injection pump cam must be changed to a shaft with the splined end to operate the hydraulic pump. I swapped in...
