    Other forums?

I do not post much but I do read in the forums here a lot and it is the most easy going of the forums, the main reason is the founders of this forum have tried to make it this way. I am also a member of mytractorforum and it has more cliques with the moderators, I should know as I was a...

J Bar brush hogs and box scrapers?

No TSC closed the last of the Del's farm stores up here north of Everett, Washington as it was owned by TSC and they could not make it. We do have a new store coming in soon and it is Coastal Farm and equipment that looks like it might be promising for getting implements.

Well I have been super busy and so has my green machine. I have been working a lot of O/T and then doing a 2nd hobby of mine of buying older used Apple computers and fixing them if they need it and then reselling them. I do not really know of anything that a good 100 hour gift for the tractor...

    Buying a new tractor

I think that you should be considering several different brands. You need to be comfortable in the dealer that you have in the fact that the service department, sales, parts and the general dealership is well set up. The other thing is that you like the tractor and you are comfortable on the...

If you are going to ballast the tires I would ballast with Rimguard, its organic and made out of beet juice. It is expensive but it will not rust your rims if you get a leak. The 2nd option is to take a large plastic can (garbage or pail) that will fit inside the wheel, cut it down and put...

    L1801DT Transmission/Hydraulic fluid change

I had a L1801 and it is not necessary to drain anything more then the transmission, just be prepared to having a large amount of fluid that will come out of the transmission. Since you are servicing the transmission also service the suction screen on the left hand side side of the transmission...

    New Tractor Delivery Inspection

My observations on tractor delivery inspections are some folks can be rather haphazard in inspecting. I bought a new tractor a couple years ago and this is what was missed. The front tires had 40 PSI in both of them Should have been 26 Psi. The hydraulic level was not visible in the sight...

Sorry I had not replied sooner but I have crazy busy. My wife a Filipina and she has been running me around looking for used lap top computers. She buys a bunch and then ships them to her family in the Philippines. So far for this shipment we located a 2 year old Dell Latitude that we got for...

Yeah the decompression lever is a god send in starting in cold weather and I always used the one on mine whenever I started the tractor cold. It just made the whole process a lot easier. As for the rototiller the max is 48" I would not bother going any larger as the larger it is the more...

Well It is nice to hear from you again. Sorry that I diod not respond faster but I had family visiting from Iowa, the only time of the year that my younger brother takes time off is the winter as he is a farmer and it is the quiet time for him. It just looks a bit strange for he walks around...

Greetings and questions on an L185

OK I will take on what this tractor is capable of doing. A 6 foot finish mower is pushing to its limits but generally if you frequently mow should be able to do the mowing with the best of them. A five foot rotary mower (bush hog) is not possible as that engine is only going to be putting out...

    purchasing L 185 need advice

For the seat e-bay or your local Kubota dealer, Northern Tool is also good as you can fit just about any generic seat on the L185 and they are on the web, just google them. The battery do you got a Wal-Mart near by. Before you go measure the battery cable length, Grab the battery and take...

    battery maintainance safety

Add this to the list Before charging a battery, remove the negative ground wire, open the cells and verify that the battery has fluid over the top of the plates and then place the positive terminal clamp on first and then the negative terminal clamp Personally I prefer to charge a battery out...

Dumbest thing you've done in a shop

Was doing a oil change on my wife's BMW. Drained the oil, Got the filter changed out and got up and went and got the oil and poured it in and heard a funny splashing noise, look under the car and the new oil was pouring out the drain hole into the catch basin, seems I forgot something, I think...

    BullDog 285 FEL

Bulldog FEL's are made by the Chinese and shipped to the United States. Quality of the FEL is marginal at best and if you need parts good luck. I think that a good North American or Japanese company would be the better choice. Butler, Kubota, Bush Hog, or Woods would be the better choice.

My brother owns a farm in Iowa and I talked to him today and I asked the question that you had and he has a rear mounted blower on his small tractor (that is what he calls his John Deere) He has the same problem and says he uses 1000 RPM when he is low gear. He limits the amount time doing...

I am sure that you will find the proper set up on the snow blower. I have never used a snow blower due to the climate here in Northwestern Washington we just do not get enough snow to justify the expense of one, we do get what I call slop snow and a blower is absolutely not going to work on it...

If the tractor is a 4 wheel drive you use 80/90 weight gear oil in the front axle. If it is a 2 wheel drive tractor it has bearings in the hub that have to be repacked every 2-3 years. I had a 2 wheel L-1801 and repacked the bearings every 2 years. All that was required was a cotter pin and a...
