    Front end loader???

I have a M5400 with 750 hours that I love. Great tractor. I also would love to have a fel. Dealer says Kubota no longer makes em for this tractor. In looking at aftermarket loaders I have come upon a Westendorf, new, that they will deliver for $6,100. Good route to go?? Ive looked for used ones...

    Did I fry my gearbox?

Well, this saga finally ended yesterday. It took a while but I told you I would let you know the results. When the gearbox was taken off many of the teeth had been chewed down to about half size and the bearings were in bad shape too.We then began a quest for replacement parts which was...

    Did I fry my gearbox?

Thanks guys. Having it fixed now (at least when they can get to it). I'll say a prayer and hope. They are going to install new seals and check the bearings. I'll let you know the damage when I get it back.

    Did I fry my gearbox?

So I bought a 4 year old 72" finish mower from a friend. It had sat at least the last 2 years outdoors unused. Brought it home and couldn't get the bolt out to add/check the gearbox fluid. Was putting oil on it everyday to help loosen it up. Tried a short mow, 5 minutes or so, and everything...

    Help!!Stuck PTO shaft

Success!! Thanks so much to everyone that took time to try to help. I wrapped a chain around it and got it to come off. Now I'm wondering why it happened. This is the second issue I've had with the PTO shaft on this bushhog. Last summer it broke the release pin and the shaft came off while...

    Help!!Stuck PTO shaft

Great ideas, appreciate them all. I will start trying some of them in the morning. I do have the bushing off the hitch and the shaft into two pieces from the bushing. So now I just have a short section of the shaft connected (stuck) to the PTO shaft. It has definitely gone on too far. I'll start...

    Help!!Stuck PTO shaft

When I went to take my bush hog off the tractor (M5400) I could not get the mower shaft to disengage from the PTO. It looks like the shaft has gone further up the tractor PTO than it should and is stuck. The release pin won't budge. I've tried hitting it with a heavy hammer but can't get a good...

    Smoke on start

Bulldog &TxJim, thanks to you both. I've already drained the oil and removed the filter and will replace with Amsol or Rotella. Think running her 5-6 hours on gas engine oil did any damage? Also my owners manual says to use API classification CC or CD oil. I've not found that class on any oil...

    Smoke on start

Was unaware oil needed to be rated for a diesel. When I asked the dealer what oil I should use he said just any major brand. Wouldn't it run rough if it had water in the fuel? It hasn't at all. Without opening a can of worms, oil recommendations? If it needs to be diesel rated I will change it...

    Smoke on start

Smoke is whitish. Not sure if brand or weight of oil is different as previous owner passed away. I put Valvoline 10 W 40 in it. Same goes for fuel, not sure what he used. I put a new Kubota air filter in it when I changed the oil. Also when I did the old oil was black as coal. Think i should try...

    Smoke on start

Have a M5400 in great shape with 720 hours on it. Never a problem anywhere. It has never smoked at all anytime. I recently changed the oil and filter and ever since it blows out a small amount of smoke upon startup. The smoke actually blows out the bottom of the upright exhaust. Thought I...
