ZG227 Mower, not a Tractor Question...

Not sure if anyone has a ZG227, 54 inch deck, ZTR mower, but I have a question if anyone might have some feedback.

I have the shop manual and do most of my own maintenance. I changed my oil, filter, and fuel filter this weekend. From the Kubota website, and my workshop manual only show one filter. The part number in the manual shows 12581-4301-2, and the part number on the filters from the dealer shows 12581-43012.

The OEM fuel filter is fairly larger, physically, longer and wider, with more volume of filtering media. At first, I questioned whether the new filter would be long enough to reach both ends of the rubber fuel hoses. But, it does.

The two questions I have are:

1-Between the fuel tank and motor, I only see one plastic, translucent fuel filter. Why do they sell them in pairs? If there is a second......where could it possibly be located?

2-Why is this filter smaller? I haven't seen an ATV, RUV, mower, etc., with a smaller replacement filter than the OEM that came on it. Why would that be the case?

If a side by side photo helps, I can post that.

If anyone has some experience with this, I would greatly appreciate any help.
Thanks

Does the filter attach to the fuel lines with a couple of clamps? If thats the case they may have used a different part number when they put your mower together. Those type of filters come in many shapes and sizes and are pretty universal. :)

Does your filter look more like this picture?
If it does it K3272-24210 filter.
You have a ZG277A it's the second edition of the model.
There is also a second filter in the separator, E6155-43160.

The 12581-43012 is for the first model (ZG277) and it does take 2 filters one before the pump and one after.

My filter is shown here with the new, smaller filter installed:

And, the only other filter I can located is shown here:
and it is very, very small and above the fuel filter bowl.

When you say "a second filter in the separator, E6155-43160", is it visible? I just don't see anything the size of either large filter that is easily seen. In my shop manual, when referencing replacing the fuel filter, it only mentions and shows one.

Yep you bought the wrong filter for your model, you need the K3272-24210 filter.
The E6155-43160 filter is inside on top of the separator bowl just past the fuel pump.

You are/were 110% correct! Not only about which filter goes where, but which model requires which filter! :D If you ever find yourself on JEOPARDY and the final question pertains to KUBOTA TRIVIA, bet all of your earnings. You are guaranteed to win.

In the vain of "Once I thought I was wrong....but was mistaken", they sold me the wrong filter(s). But, I was unaware there was more than one model, too. Under my account they made annotations about the correct model number and filter requirements in the event I lose my mind, they can simply look it up.

I owe you and if I can repay the favor, just let me know.

Thanks again!

Glad I could help out. :D
Oh and here is where the second filter hides, it's in the top of the water trap and fuel cock. ;)
