Oberlin Oh
I purchased a new dealer demo Zd 326 on monday. Trade a 2002 ZD 21 on the new machine. Really like the extra power, deck lift pedals and parking brake setup. The seat is much better and the overall ride is great.
I did not like how resistance the Hydro levers have to move for steering.
My salesman said lots of guys remove the 2 small hyd dampeners under the seat. Tried that and it only helped slightly. So tonight I loosened the two 22 mm locking nuts on the pivot rod for the hyd levers. I backed the nut off about 5 quarter turns. Mowed around my fence and pond and I find the ZD 326 is as easy to steer as the Zx21. It can take very fast if you push the levers forward quickly. I will mow Saturday and might try reinstalling the dampeners since the levers are so easy to push.
A salesmen at a different dealer told me you could not adjust the resistance of the levers because it was caused by the large hyd pumps. He tried to sell me a Hustler z pro with a 31 hp Kawasaki. I really glad I did not go with the Hustler, it probally burns over 2 gals of gas per hour.
