Woods SB54 Chute Handle Length Problem

Recently bought a Woods SB54 for my B2601 and am finding that the handle for the chute rotation is too long--even when adjusted in as far as it will go. The handle strikes the cross member on the fenders when the SB is lowered and then hits the seat when raised. I see some fabricating in my future unless someone else has a more obvious solution that I'm missing. Any one else encounter this problem?

After fiddling with it for a bit, I found that the support bracket for the chute handle can be mounted in a number of ways on either side of the frame. I actually found mounting the bracket opposite of the installation instructions gives just enough clearance to get by the fender cross member when rotating.
