Won't shift to neutral BX2200

My 2005 bx2200 is very difficult to shift to neuatral when the engine is running. I thing the speed control lever may not be totally disengaging when released. The speed lever has been lubricated and does not feel sticky. Is there an adjustment or other simple thing to try?
