Wiring Diagram Wire Descriptions

Working thru the wiring diagram for my tractor and wondering what the wire descriptions mean. I get the color code identification (R, R/W ...) but there is also a number before the wire color (3, 5, 0.85. 1.25...). What do these numbers mean?
I saw nothing in the manual that explains this.

OK, the those numbers are the for the wire diameter in mm.

Don't feel to bad about it not being in the manual.. I went through the entire 485 page owner's manual for the wife's Nissan and NO mention of WHERE the battery is, or HOW to remove it....

I thought the numbers were the area in sqmm. In any case, here's a conversion chart.

yeah, area not diameter..silly Canada is 'kinda Metric', just like my BX23S !
Wonder if they squish the wires 'square' to make the measurement ?
