Can someone tell me who to figure this out? I had a wiper motor for my windshield on the cab I'm building, but it travels way past the area of the glass on both sides. So I see they sell adjustable sweep motors, but i'd like to know how I figure out the degree of sweep I need. Windshield is 23 1/2 inches high, X 29 inches wide. Hole I made for the motor shaft sits about 2 inches above the glass. Anyone experienced at this? thanks in advance

Use tape from the mounting hole to where you want the blade to sweep to in both directions.

Then use a protractor or some simple math to figure out the angle. Look at chords or trigonometry functions for the math.

Just in-case you can’t remember your high-school trig....

Cut a large circle of paper and place it (centered) over the pivot point. Mark the 12-o’clock position on the paper, and the ends of where you wish the sweep to stop. Lay an ordinary compass upon the paper with “North” aligned with the 12 o’clock position. Read the compass “degrees” where the “stops” occur.

Example”. The left stop is at 210-degrees (south west) and the right stop is at 150-degrees (southeast). 150 subtracted from 210 equals 60-degrees of sweep.

When doing the front wiper on my DIY cab, I wanted the swept area to be as large as possible. It all went just as planned and the "test drive" on the dry windshield was perfect. HOWEVER, the first time the windshield was wet, the tip of the wiper ran off the glass on both sides:( Live and learn.

PAM cooking spray is slippery... but will wash off with ordinary Dawn detergent.
