Who has replaced cab windshield

Looking for advise from anyone who has had the misfortune of replacing a L grand series cab windshield. I managed to clean and removed all glass. Left on the metal frame is a black foam / rubber like seal. Does this need to be removed or is this just extra sealant to assist with window vibration and the new adhesive bonds to this.

I replaced the lower right on my M85 last fall, it should basically be the same.
You don't need to remove all the sealer, just take it down to the metal.
Then glue the new window in and tape it in place.

Ok, so the black sealer that is up there does need to be removed? It looks to be in perfect condition. I wasn't sure if the adhesive would stick to this. As you said it need to go down to the metal which means more work. In was hoping I didn't have to.
