Where to get a ROPS for an older (85 and before) tractor?

Recently bought a B8200 that I've fallen in love with. From what I can gather its an 85 and doesn't appear to have come with a ROPS when new. I contacted the National ROPS Rebate Program and they said the only option is to order one from a dealer. Contacted my local dealer and they said they can no longer order a ROPS for my machine.

I had a father who almost died in a tractor roll over accident and as a father of two little ones, I would like to have the bar for safety as well as for adding a light bar and flashing light for snow removal in the winter. Is my only option to find a used one from a salvage yard? I've done some looking at salvage yard inventory in my relative area and no luck. Are there any companies making aftermarket certified ROPS so I can still get some rebate money?

You might have some luck speaking to people that fabricate roll cages for cars. They may have some ideas.

Hello JUSS10,

Is this of any benefit? Doesn't look like they have one made for your particular tractor, but they do have a universal model.

Good luck with this.

I just fabbed one out of 2 inch tubing in an evening for a fraction of buying new.

Hey, had the same problem as you mine was an 85 Ford 1710. Looked on ebay until I found a later model 89 for sale that had a roll bar on it and bought it from the tractor seller. He took it off put it on a pallet and shipped it to me. Kind of expensive with the shipping, total cost was like 365.00. Really good insurance for me. Hope this works for you.

It'd be nice to have diagram/pictures of a real one.. in case you have to get one made. It might be hard to get one custom built AND certified though. Not sure HOW they test them to get the 'seal of approval' and I don't think you want to loan your out for the 'roll over test' !!

Look at the Kubota USA website and they did have a program that provided ROPS at reduced cost. You may look under safety or something similar in the website.

https://www.kubotausa.com/service-support/safety/tractor-safety/rops-safety

You need to fill out some form with the serial number from your tractor. Then Kubota sends information to you and you order the ROPS through your dealer.

You can have the dealer have it delivered on their normal stock delivery and save shipping cost (I think). Dealer can install or you can.

If you’re not able to locate the information on their website post back and I’ll see if I can find it or not. The link I provided looks like a dead end on an iPad but see if it works on a PC

Tried this. Got to the point of having to order it from my local dealer and they said they could no longer get them and the part number isn't available anymore.

I do have a friend with a tube bender who makes roll cages for rock crawlers and jeeps so needless to say I could come up with something. Just thought I'd check here if there was something I missed before going the route of a custom build.

Good idea on finding someone with a B8200 that HAS a ROPS so I can have them show me exactly how its mounted.

There should be four threaded holes in the rear casting on either side lower down. I would think that the B8200 is the same. I fastened a 1/2" plate to these areas and mounted the ROPS to this. My mount is incorporated into the full upper and lower frame I built years ago to accommodate my BH that included a new stronger top link bracket.

Look on Tractorhouse.com under dismantling. There are quite a few tractor junkyards in existance. Good luck.
