It looks like the tips of the gear teeth are worn down (gear on the shaft you are moving) or the location of the bearing is incorrect on that shaft. You can measure the gear outer diameter and ask your dealer if they can tell you what that diameter should be.

Of course you could remove that gear and see if it looks correct on the outer diameter, I can’t really see it that well.

That's a lot of wear for <600 hours. Is the tractor used a lot on hard pavement in 4wd? Are tires factory standard?

I think you have to replace some gears and bearings. Fortunately, they appear to be affordable. Check the others while you're in there.

If the joint is under the oil level, there may not be a gasket. There would be a sealing gasket maker like Three Bond but I don’t recall which formulation.
