The water temp gauge on my ZD25F doesn't work Kubota article says sending unit is on back right side of head. I have a sending unit located on the thermostat housing which I think is correct. Should I ground this wire to see if the gauge moves?, if it moves the sending unit is bad?

I don't believe I'd ground the wire, not knowing how the rest of the tractor is wired. If you disconnect the wire and measure from the sensor terminal to ground with an ohmmeter when the engine is cold, write down the reading. Start the engine and let it get up to operating temperature. The reading should be different. You can do the same thing by removing the sensor and putting it into hot water but you'll lose some coolant that way. The two readings will tell you whether the sensor is doing anything. You could also have a problem with your gauge or its power supply, perhaps even a poor ground at the instrument panel.
