I recently bought a Jacobsen turf mower with a V1305-ES engine. I have read several guides describing the engine naming convention but did not find anything about the suffix. Is it possible it is a Jacobsen only version? If so, any chance anyone knows what is different about their version?

The suffix sometimes has more to do with the RPMs, and normally it's all in the setup and adjustments of of the engine than it is really different parts.
One other reason for the suffix's are the bolt on parts options, like different intake, exhaust, oil pan, and such.
One example it Vxxxx- T, that would be a turbo engine.

There is a difference in some engines as to auxiliary bolt on parts, thus different suffix's
One example of this is a option for driving a hydraulic pump off of the fuel cam, almost all Tractor engines need this option, where like your mower the pump will be driven off of the crank.

So no, Kubota engines are really not married to one thing or another.
