Will try to keep short. Engine sitting, cleaned fuel system to lift pump. Thought lift pump to be weak, removed inspected appeared to be working ok. Removed fuel shut off lever to get to top nut off when I removed lift pump. I did manual turn over engine about 3/4 turn to make sure lift pump cam was operating. Re-installed lift/fuel pump. Went to put the shut off/on cover and lever back on injector pump, it is now stuck. I can wiggle it maybe 1/16 of inch. Don't want to force anything. Took off the throttle cover to inspect?? Can not see why it is stuck? Any ideas? JK

It wasn't stuck before?? It prob. was & that's why all the diagnosis..??
What u prob. did was, when u rolled the engine to check the cam for the "lift pump" was, rolled the cam for the "inj. pump" which caused the plunger to rise & stuck the rack.. Therefor u have a stuck plunger in the "inj. pump", which inturn stops the rack from moving..
Roll the engine back & with some luck{a lot} & some small TAPS it'll come back down..??
BUT, the problem still exists.. sticky/varnished fuel.. especially if its Bio fuel..
Some people have luck with>> remove the inlet line off the inj. pump, blow out the fuel at the pump inlet & fill the cavity w/ straight diesel fuel or penetrating oil.. Roll the engine over a few times & keep filling the pump inlet..let it sit & work..
Some people get lucky.. others don't.. If you don't, its time to take the pump apart & clean it..

It was not stuck before, but the fuel was very dirty. I removed and cleaned tank, all new fuel lines to pump and new filter. I will do what you advised. Thanks again, I so much appreciate response. Will post results, may be a few days down the road! Thank You, JK

Does it have the electric shut off INFRONT of the pump, right side?
Some have a plastic plunger that will fall down.. check THAT..
Check your mail box..
No this is very old motor, no plastic plunger. Electric solenoid is on right hand side if you are standing at the flywheel end. I believe you are probably on track that the pin is stuck. I probably contaminated it when I was attempting to bleed fuel. Will try all you suggested when I have time. Thanks again!

Sounds like you didn't install it in the proper position.

Remove it again take pictures and then post them.

No, I had the cover/cam shut off in correct position. I believe other response is correct, plunger is stuck the rack. I have it soaking with clean oil, will get back to it in a couple of days. If that does not work, will probably have to take complete unit to shop that can disassemble far enough to get it to release. Don't want to do that, I usually can fix things my self. Just not sure how far I dare go into the pump, and if I will get into it far enough to get it loose? I can't seem to find a good parts breakdown of my particular injector pump?

Clean "OIL" isn't going to do a thing for it.. u need something that will bust up the varnished fuel, already in the pumping plungers.
You'll have much better luck w/ some sort of penetrating fluid or ATF.. or even clean diesel fuel..
Good luck
