Using loader valve for 3rd function?

Hi folks,
New member here. I'm somewhat mechanically savvy, but not a mechanic by any means and know quite little about hydraulics. Been around tractors most my life but as a kid we always hired others that had the proper equipment to work our farm. I have had my B2320 since 2015 and over the years I have acquired quite a few implements (snow blower, tiller, cement mixer, etc). The tiller is hydraulic drive off a garden tractor and I was wondering, would it be kosher to run off the front end loader valve? There are 4 quick connects on the FEL valve; 2 for boom (Up/Down), 2 for bucket tilt (fro/aft). I only really need to raise the boom to clear the ground when operating the tiller and wouldn't need the tilt action to function. I know there wouldn't be as much flow as I'd like but I have a small garden, I'm not tilling fields.

Also, one more question. I recently picked up a 3PH cement mixer with a hydraulic top link. Originally I intended just to use a come-along(cable winch) in place for the top link dump action. The top link it came with is only a one line hydraulic cylinder(gravity drop, hydraulic lift). Would one be able to rig that up to the FEL valve? Without making a full circuit(only one, not two lines connected), would it relieve the pressure? would there be a full circuit or would it overpressure the line not attached? I have looked at 3rd function valves but from what I've seen they'll cost me about $1000 CDN and for the odd time I'll be using the cement mixer and tiller I can't justify that. Also from what I've seen, they large, ugly, and in the way on these small tractors.

Thank you in advance for your advice,

Dustin from the North

I see this person had done something similar for running a wood splitter. I don't know if it would work for the tiller being a much lower flow rate then what is probably recommended but, hypothetically, if I did use the curl action for the hydraulic driven tiller, would I not be able t run the tines in forward/reverse using the tilt/dump actions of the bucket?

re: tiller
You need to find out the PSi and GPM of the tiller motor BEFORE you plumb it in. Providing the tractor has MORE GPM and similar PSI , it should work. Hopefully the tag info is still on the tiller.

re: 3PH top link. Yes you can use a single acting cylinder to a dual action valve. Again, need to know the specs !... you do NOT want to connect a cylinder rated for 1200PSI to a 3800 PSI hydraulic line !

Sounds like you are looking for rear remotes not a third function. You could steal from the loader valve but I would suggest you simply add a valve (1, 2, 3,... spools) and remotes to the tractor. Here is the hydraulic plumbing for your loader valve. To add another valve you simply remove pipe 80 and connect two hoses for the new valve's supply and return using two banjo adapters and banjo bolts 90 and 120. A single spool valve with quick connects would only set you back about $200-$300 and you would now have the real deal.

Well, I ordered a couple 1/4” kubota quick disconnects to hook into the loader valve. Drug out the old L76 Ingersoll tiller and set it up to go over. Also had this stump puller I made for the tractor years ago but haven’t really used. Going to mount the tiller on the frame of the stump puller. Fingers crossed that it works for me. Thinking I could always adjust the sprocket if need be. Will let you know how it works.
