I have been looking at getting rid of my L260 and trying to find a newer tractor with a loader. I came across a pretty beat up BX 2200 that I may be able to get pretty cheap. I basically have three questions:

1. How much can a 22hp BX accomplish? Loader capabilities?
2. How robust are the machines?
3. Any problem spots that I need to look for other than the HST fan?

My potential uses/needs for the little guy are:
Moving small amounts of material i.e., stone, mulch, dirt around my property
Maintaining a 450' gravel drive
Snow removal.....that is if we get any, haven't had much the last two years
Bush hogging already established paths and ditches
(Maybe) using a 3pt. tiller to tend to and already established garden - have a walk behind tiller now
General homeowner type useage around my homestead

Thanks for any information

Bush hog max size 40-48". Don't expect to lift more than 5-600 lbs with loader to full height. Strong little buggers for their physical size. HST fan can be protected by a $160 skid plate made by a few aftermarket guys.

Aftermarket is massive for this series.

I bought a new BX2200 in 2003 and will leave it to my kids some day. I later bought a BX2660 in 2008 thinking I'd sell the 2200; still have it. It generally spends most of the spring and summer on a trailer traveling between our three farms, always seem to find a use for it.

I had a BX2200 for 13 years and it has saved my back many times. It is small but powerful compared to its size. I would still have it, but I needed more power when I decided to clear some property and there were trees in the way.

However, (keep this a secret ) there are times that I wish I had kept it. The small size and usefulness are missed frequently.

I have owned my BX2200 for several years now. Could not have created the yard that I have now without it. I use it for moving all sorts of things, like the 500-600 lb blueberry bush in the attached picture. It was so heavy that I had to bump forward while lifting to use the hole's edge to help push the bucket up. I was right at max lift with this. If it wasn't for the loaded tires, I would probably have not been able to do it. Now, it is in its new home (the blueberry bush) where I hope to lots of blueberries.

I use a front 50" blower for snow. Truly unbelievable. I usually do 13 driveways. My neighbors are either older, or single women without snowblowers. Can't have anyone hurting themselves.

Three-point is great. Use it for all sorts of things. Have a carry all, bagger for the mower deck, renting whatever 3pt equipment I need. Never knew how much I could use it for.

Be sure to get manuals for the tractor, deck and loader, lots of zerks that need attention and some on the deck are kind of hard to find.

No deck on this one. I mow with a Hustler zero-turn so it's not needed. But definately need to get the manuals for it.

If you don't have a deck, be sure to check your HST fan as they are very vulnerable to breakage. Bro Tek and Bxpanded make good ones.
