Tractor weight question

I will probably be buying a trailer and I am trying to figure out what my tractor actually weighs. I don't readily have access to a scale. I have an MX 5400 ROPS HST. The tractor itself weighs 3716 Lbs. However I have loaded R4 tires and FEL. I need a pretty reliable number for the tire weight and the FEL weight. I also have a backhoe ordered so it would be good to know what that weighed. Any help with personal knowledge or a reference to this information would be appreciated. Update: Did find weight of material bucket for FEL is 320lbs. Still don't know what the rest of the loader weighs.

You could take a WAG at it.

Tractor 3716 lb.
FEL 800 Lb.
FEL bucket 320 lb.
Loaded tires 700 lb.
Backhoe (BH92?) 1,800 lb.
15 gal. diesel 100 lb.

Approximately 7,500 lbs.
Empty trailer will weigh 2,500+ lbs.
If you were to buy a 10,000lb. GVW trailer you would be too close to, or a bit over max capacity.
I would be looking at a 12,000lb. GVW trailer.
I....actually use a 20ft. 14,000lb. GVW trailer, (similar weight tractor), with a 14K Equal-i-zer hitch.
(That hitch is a major towing safety item!)

I would have preferred a 24' trailer but I store everything inside, and the 24' length would have not permitted another vehicle to be stored ahead or behind.

I have similar tractor and stuff…not sure what or how far you are going, but it’s all my F250 gasser wants going up an 11degree grade I live on…turn out my drive and 11 degrees…not a happy girl. Once up and moving it’s fine. I have a MX, loaded tires plus wheel weights, loader and backhoe and bring other attachments or a job box along as well. I have a Diamond C 14.5k. (Trailer weighs 4K) And it’s 24’ total with the deck plus ramps folded over space…you can drive or park on the folded ramps. However to safely load I do have to lift the backho to fold the ramps…I could pull forward but I don’t want all that weight on the tongue. I suspect you will need a class v hitch unless you already have one. If inwere to do over I’d do a gooseneck. In terms of weight I am pushing the safe limit. I think tractor is closer to 3700-3800, tires are 600ish plus 300 on the weights (all per side) loader 1600ish and BH I’ve seen from 1800-2000. I would not buy a smaller trailer. To balance the load and get tractor with brush hog on its more than full with a little hanging over. So for safe planning I think you could estimate that the back tires would be centered over the front axle as worst case for a bumper pull trailer …so then question is how much hangover you want? My brush hog takes up 10’ about. Diamond C has schematics online of their trailer axle position and deck. It’s worth some simple checks. Save space for job boxes or anything else you plan to haul. I’ve not put it all on the scale but it is a combination of specs and BOL from when dealer delivered. The brush hog hangs back further the the Bh in travel position.

I have a MX5100 and use a 24’ 14k bumper pull, electric brakes on both axles. With a 6’ bush hog hanging over the back some(for better tongue weight I have about 2’ in the front.
I would not want any smaller and the price difference between a 20-24” 10k or 14k was only a few hundred in my area. Would have went with a 30-35’ gooseneck but only had a 1/2 ton truck at the time.

Negative. Towed the tractor 300 miles home on my 7k trailer with a 1/2 ton. Deal too good to pass up on a like new pre emissions tractor. Bought the 14k trailer, loaded up and weighed it on CAT scales. Over the rating of the truck (didn’t anticipate the trailer weighing 4k lbs) so traded it when I found the right 3/4 ton.

YES ! EVERY tandem should have BRAKES on BOTH axles !!!

Also should have backup lights installed (wire's already there....)

I have a 18' gooseneck with 5200# axles, my 8 speed auto 1500 Ram tows my M6060 with loaded tires, loader and bush hog fine. The trailer has brakes on both axles. I won't argue that a 3/4 or 1 ton wouldn't be better. The goose neck makes a huge difference IMO.

I was able to calculate my tractor weight from the Kubota tractor and attachment spec weights online. Took a little searching but you should be able to do that. Just search the individual model number specs.

Assuming that your trailer is licensed for 10K, how much would you guess that you are over the licensed GVW?

No license here on trailers, haven’t checked the GVW.
