Tractor almost dies when I press accelerator

I have a BX2350. It starts fine and revs up with the throttle fine. Intermittently, when I press the accelerator it almost dies. I let off and press and finally it will accelerate normally. I have only owned it for a couple of weeks. I spent about three hours tilling up an arena and it was working great. The arena was horribly dusty. I changed the air filter and still am having the same issue. Any help with the next step of troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated.

The accelerator as you call it is the hydrostatic pedal, if you push it too fast too far and have low rpms on the engine, the engine will stumble. Engine speed is controlled by the governor to the speed set by the throttle. The governor only responds when engine speed drops due to increasing load. If the load increases faster then the governor can compensate the engine will stall. The dusty conditions may have contributed to the problem by gumming up the governor throttle linkage. Try cleaning the pivot points on the linkage and then lubricating.

Yep - what GrouseFeathers said very well.

Other question is are you in high or low range on the HST selector?

The others have posted good answers-

to add, WHAT rpm are you operating the machine?
When was the last time the FUEL filter(s) were changed?

Look at the safety switches and see if any of them cut the engine off if no one is in the seat and the pedal is not in neutral. It may be a combination of switches and a control board in the computer.

I would suggest that the tractor thinks no one is in the seat and wants to keep the carbon based life forms safe from the dangerous mechanical parts of the tractor.

See if you can troubleshoot the safety switch in the seat.

Thieves have been stealing from me, stole my trailer and my husquavarna lawn tractor, among other things...so I have been unplugging the seat switch, engaging PTO switch, removing fuses, and disconnecting the battery...been a nightmare...I will check that today...I just changed the oil, want to do the transmission fluid, but cant move the darn thing

One possible cause, if the tank's the same as the BX23S ( same family ?), is that there's a 'floater' in the tank that is partially blocking the outlet spigot of the tank. BTDT.....was told 3hrs labour at dealer or DIY for free. In my case a small piece of 'C" shaped plastic got stuck in the spigot. NO amount of light into the tank helped SEE it....I now have a screen on the filler tube of the tank.
