Every time I work on the tractor this hawk follows me around. He sits in the trees and watches for something (usually toads) to move, then swoops in. I'm surprised he can still fly, worked on grape vines this morning and he feasted.
Great pictures! When I brush mow a strip of land I have about 3 times a year, I usually get 1 or 2 red-tailed hawks following along to grab the field mice they spot.
No hawks but when I do the lower field there are always jays and crows picking up grasshoppers and other tasty little morsels,, I guess Kubota guys help the wildlife too
This hawk snagged 6 rabbits while I was brush mowing over the summer. Kinda cool, he soared just over my head a couple times. I could see the rabbits kicking as the hawk would fly back to the trees to eat them.
During my recent power line trench dig,(http://www.orangetractortalks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6612&page=68)
robins, juncos, nuthatches, & stellar jays kept flying down into the trench..... finally figured out they were getting bugs uncovered by the digging. Smart little critters.....
