Is an 8-16 R1 tire the same as an 8.00-16 R1 tire?

Yes - in the perfect world they mean the same.

The reaaaaal problem comes in when we say 8-16 has a "diameter of x" from maker ONE, and another maker makes the same tire size BUT the "diameter" is off a good bit!

Heck ,I have had to warranty new tires from the same manufacture that did not have the same dimensions(enough that the truck did not sit quite right.
