Greetings.
I am a new tractor owner with a L3800 from the local dealer. I asked about chains and the R1 tire and the dealer sold me 2-link tire chains for $450 and they installed them for me as a courtesy for buying the tractor. I asked about returning them as they are ineffective for the R1 tire as they fall between the deep lugs and stay there. They accepted them but only for credit on the H pattern V-bar chains and an additional cost of ~$270. I paid them.
I picked them up yesterday and saw that the bags reads "tirechains.com"- where I recently purchased chain pliers. The initial set of chains had the same bag listing Tirechains.com" but it didn't occur to me what it was. Incidently, tirechains.com does not recommend 2 link chains on deep lug tires for the some reason the initial set didn't work. I see that the first set of chains cost $315 (charged $450) and the newer chains-they sent duo grip combination V bar- are $443 (charged additional ~$270). I spoke with the dealer and they state the increased charge comes from the distributor but that they would look into it.
I don't have a warm fuzzy feeling about being charged and additional $200 for something I could have done myself correctly the first time. Any advice on recourse in how to speak with the dealer should I be informed that there is nothing that they can (or will) do about this?
