OK, I have to replace the steel line on the FEL LA435 on the B which I destroyed. Now from the drawing in the parts list this lil bytch goes across to a T and then up through the boom to the block. Any hints or tricks anyone might have to get it out with out doing more damage to anything. Anybody?

Tips:
No Irish whiskey before working on it, only after!
A shot of Baileys in your cup coffee before is acceptable...
A bottle of Baileys and a shot of coffee before is not acceptable!

Tricks:
Don't use a hammer to "remove or adjust things"

Been there on loader hard lines — patience really is the tool.

A few things that usually save the T and the boom fittings:
1) Support the boom so nothing is hanging on that line. Lower the bucket flat on the ground or put stands under the arms.
2) Crack the fittings at both ends first and catch the oil. Don't start bending until both ends are free.
3) The path across to the T is the sticky part — take photos before you pull it so the clocking of the bends is obvious when the new line goes in. A little sideways wiggle while sliding it out beats forcing it past the T.
4) If the line is already kinked/destroyed, cut it in a clear section so you can remove it in two pieces instead of fighting one long snake past the T.
5) When you order/make the replacement, match flare type and length from the old pieces (or the parts diagram), and don't overtighten into the T — that's how the next leak starts.

If you can post the parts-diagram screenshot or a couple photos of the T and boom block ends, people can tell you whether that line is one piece or sections on your B/LA435.

Gentlemen, I must submit the suspension of my man card, as much as it pains me. The dealer is going to pick the B up sometime next week,, yes I know there goes my next retirement check .
Alas as I age I have begun to understand there are things I cannot do, 40 years ago there would be shyt all over the garage floor. And I here by suffer in quiet shame. Until my next adventure into doing things I shouldnt :)

Skeets, no shame in admitting we cann,t do now what we once used to be able to do. At 77, I still will not give in and hire others to do what I know I can still do, but I,m kinda glad I,m not paying myself by the hour. A one hour job can now easily turn into 3-4 hours, or even I,ll quit now, and finish it tomorrow, unless something more interesting distracts me for another day, or two. Having a nice place to work in, and lots of patience, is definitely the key. If I find myself getting to frustrated, leaving it for another time and a fresh start the next day usually makes it easier.

Clint Eastwood was 43 years old (turning 43 later that year) when he delivered the line "A man's got to know his limitations" as Inspector Harry Callahan in the movie Magnum Force, which was released on December 25, 1973. He was born on May 31, 1930. He is now 96 years and 5 months old. It's hard to believe he said those words 53 years ago. Seems like just yesterday.

I'm also 77 YO, and I couldn't agree more! Patience has never been one of my "strong suits". But I've learned that when I DO get frustrated, I need to take a step back, and think about it-
