This is why I have security cameras.
The one at the end of of driveway has four small infrared lights that flash when taking a night photo. There tiny but you can still see them. I always thought about putting a piece of tape over them for better concealment. But apparently the two thieves saw the lights flash and headed back away.
The sherrif said the big bag is empty to fill with unlocked car or unlocked shed items small enough to carry off.
The sherrif said no one's out at 7* walking unless their stealing. And im off the beaten path. Its uphill all the way to my driveway.

I think the flash is a good thing... let's them know. I live at the end of the road (can lock my gate) but it's one way in and 3 gates that you need to open/close. I've only had one time, in the last 20 years where someone tried breaking my gate lock (it was a good one but end up buying an even better one!!).

I've yet to see one of these cameras with resolution where you could see / ID a face....

Oh boy! I'd want at least a .30 cal mini gun mounted on that thing. It's amazing how affordable really decent drone capabilities are these days.

I have cameras outside and inside my house, but my driveway is fairly lone and very exposed and there's only one way in and one way out so I've never had an issue with thieves. The other thing is that I have steel targets strewn about my property which are also clearly visible so it sets a tone of "proceed with caution".

The smart ones learn to just sneak behind them once they see the flash. Fortunately being criminals, they tend to be mostly dumber than a bag of hammers.
I once put a good cam trained on a ‘gone-defective’ cam and saw multiple instances of them trying to sneak up behind the dead cam to disable or steal it.

You have my attention…What’s the pay load of ‘murder hornets’ a drone can carry? (For patrolling your sovereign air space, of course)

Not enough payload for decent ordnance, unfortunately.
But mine does have a speaker and visible spotlight mounted (in addition to the NIR spotlight) in order to ‘greet’ them.
I just have to stay above the hillbilly ack-ack is all, but if they can pling me in the dark going 50mph once I go into ‘discreet mode’, I will tip my cap to their marksmanship. But now additionally they’re facing Federal charges for firing at an aircraft—which video’d them doing so.

A shotgun blast in the air in their general direction would certainly scare those thieves off.
Did you ever find out who these guys were, and if so, what happened to them ?

I bet those AHs were out just getting some fresh air and exercise…and as it turns out, 4 legged friends need exercise too.

I am partial to GSDs but there are plenty of other breeds that need exercise just the same.

@WFM you need to look at updating your camera equipment.
There are cameras that have way better resolution.

I love my Moultrie cameras Wolfman.
But certainly open to suggestions, I've had or tried Stealth and recently a China brand (Guardepro) that was being pushed on utube. It was junk and I was out $60. Bucks.

You sure about the camera having IR lights? IR light isn't visible so they wouldn't have seen them flash and your image is in color. IR lit scenes are in black and white.

There are two different types of IR flash used on game cameras for night shots. The IR flash that can be seen by human eyes as a dim red light is the less expensive version. The more expensive version uses IR at a wavelength beyond human visibility, usually referred to as black flash or no glow for ultimate concealment.

Putting a piece of tape over the IR flash lights will result in mostly dark if not totally black night photos.
