I have been looking at 45 to 65 HP tractors for the last couple of months. I thought I was going to go green but the more I look at the orange ones and compare, the more I lean toward the orange. Right now, I have a TT45A New Holland. Not 4 wheel drive and no loader. I would like to have both. I was disappointed to learn the 5045E Deere was made in India and in looking at it have to say, it just isn't finished off as nice as the orange ones or for that matter the green ones that are made in the states. Don't know why Deere decided to have the 5 series made in India. I think it is a huge mistake but lots of other companies have made and are making similar mistakes.
The tractor I have now, I feel, is about the right size for the little 120 acre farm I have as most of the heavy stuff gets done custom. I use it more for mowing my crp than anything else. I have a good friend who is heavy into the green equipment and doesn't think I would be happy with a hydrostatic drive tractor. I am not so sure I wouldn't be after reading some of the posts on this site. I thought I could save some money by staying away from one and going with a gear drive but maybe it would be worth the extra for the hydro. I do some snow moving and hope to use the loader for that along with smoothing out a few crossings etc. I do have some serious hills and could have killed myself last year on one when the little New Holland clutch stuck under the clutch stop! Another reason I have been thinking about Hydro pretty hard. Of course, once I decide on one or the other, then I need to decide on which tractor and tires. Any thoughts or help is much appreciated and if I can add anything else that you need to know to help me with this big decision in life, please let me know. Appreciate your help!

The hydro static is a shear pleasure and i dont think i could ever go back to shifting especially for snow removal. The one thing about Kubota is you know what your getting, Deere has been playing games with engines and who they have make their machines. Kubota is Kubota and a tractor is a lifetime thing for me and i feel real good knowing I will be able to go to a Kubota dealer 20 years from now and get parts for my tractor. Just look at what Ford did in the 70s with their 1500 and 1700 hundred series tractors. You cant get parts for them and havent been able to for years now because Ford started using engines manufactured overseas and the companies no longer supply part for engine or drivetrain for those tractors......

Mike, I probably screwed up but ordered a 5045E from the green people! I still like the looks of the orange ones and have a feeling I may have to switch gears and trade the green for the orange at a future date. They were about 4000.00 more in trade difference and I just couldn't justify the extra money right now.

I have shifted gears in all my cars/trucks/tractors......the rocker pedal is sooooo nice.........
JD makes a nice machine, good ol american know how, but as you stated, to make a few extra bucks, they SHIP THE stuff to India and back rather than pay americans to do it, Kubota makes a lot of machines in GA, a rather than make it in Japan they make them there in GA, and a huge ever growing plant.

I did not catch the tractor you are looking at, but I think with a good dealer you can get a fair price and if you are going for the 0% - that is even harder to beat.

Whatever orange you have, I think you will be impressed with, tough machines, and you might kick yourself for not getting it sooner. I know I have footprints on me ars !!!
