I know there are some Brothers of the Craft in here, and even if your not, please take a second to read this and contact these people. The Shrine hospital for children has helped countless children and change as many lives. And every penny that every order makes goes back in to a charity, nothing goes to any order. Donations and fund raisers like this are the foundation of charitable work like the Shriner's do. And to loose the money that would be lost from this, well how many children will pay the price, because of the lack of funds. When I was Master of the lodge, we had information on how much money was donated to charities from each Masonic Order. The amount was over One Million dollars,,,, A DAY!!!
The Shriner's do good work for the kids, and we need to help them.
Thanks

ACTION ALERT - Performing animal ban introduced in Pittsburgh, PA
On Wednesday December 13, 2017, City Council President Bruce Kraus blindsided us by the introduction of a revised anti-circus ordinance that he tried to pass in 2016. This revised resolution would ban the use of any USDA approved tool that is used in the safe and humane guidance and transportation of our performing animals. The proposal is cleverly worded to try and fool the public into believing these tools are used to inflict pain on animals. The truth is, these tools are approved by the U.S. Government for use, and in many cases, are required by the insurance carriers of the owners of exotic animals. The Syria Shrine Circus of Pittsburgh, The Pittsburgh Zoo, AEG Management, Pittsburgh SEIU, Outdoor Amusement Business Association, and local Circus Fans of America members are actively working to defeat this ordinance. It is imperative that City Council members hear from supporters of performing and exhibition animals before they take any action on this ordinance. We have been informed that Mr. Kraus would like to force a vote on his proposal on Tuesday, December 19th, giving us a very short window to organize opposition.
Please take a moment to contact the Mayor and each member of the Pittsburgh City Council with a short e-mail stating you OPPOSE this ordinance, and encourage your friends and family to do the same (especially those who live in the Pittsburgh area). Sample talking points for your correspondence are listed below, but please use your own words and your own experiences to politely express your opposition to this proposed ban. Contact information for individual Council members is listed below, or you can visit the Council website at http://pittsburghpa.gov/council/ and click on the "Feedback" tab for each Council member.
Thank you for your timely attention and help in opposing this circus legislation that is designed to put the Shrine Circus out of business.. Being the largest Shrine fraternity in the U.S, and having our largest and oldest fundraising activity in jeopardy, it is our hope that our members take the time to contact the Mayor, and Pittsburgh City Council members to oppose this proposal. There is definitely power in numbers. Yes, you can make a difference!
