This morning while I was at the store, I got a call from the stealer for the BX. I listened to the message 6 times before I figured out what it was about. So I called and got the same girl, she talked so fast I had to keep stopping her to ask what she was saying. Maybe its the times we live in, or the lack of our educational system. But back in the day, we were taught how to answer a phone, how to speak on the phone how to say numbers clearly and repeat than. OK Im done bitchin for now, until I get the bill ,and 125.00 transport for 7 miles is BS but there ya go,, wait, I said I was done,, ok now I am

Welcome to the boat I'm in ! When (if) someone leaves a message for me...dang 6 times would be a record for figuring out what they said. If they talk real fast ,I'll say ,' hang on, you're talking way too fast, sounds like you need to pee, call me back when you're done.'

THAT slows them down, real fast !

I'm in the same boat.
Virtually no one these days can leave a clear, enunciated message.
My message machine is going to wear out long before it's time because I have to replay each messageat least half a dozen times. 🤬

I got a voice mail and I couldn't understand it. A man was talking, but not clearly. I listened probably 6 time or more, asked my wife if she could understand the message or the subject. So if finally entered the number on Google and it was Hershey Co. I had called asking about one of their products a week ago.

What I hate is everyone is using their speaker on the phone.

I called to get an appointment for a window replacement. Lady asked for my license plate number instead of just asking what year/make/model. I had to tell her 3 times before she made out what I said. Each time I was talking I heard a loud noise on her end that kills the speaker on her phone because the phone thinks she is talking. I'll be damned if she didn't have to later ask year/make/model anyways!

Did you remember to press 1 for English. :D

Is that $125 each way or one way? I think $125 total is fairly reasonable assuming you only do it once every few years.

I think it's a bad habit that many young people have today of talking to fast. Nearly every time I have to talk to a teenager, I have to tell them to not speak so fast, my ears can't hear as fast as they can talk.
It's especially difficult to understand them in a noisy environment. As far as understanding messages left on my phone, if I can't understand it, I delete it. They can leave a text or call back and maybe I'll answer next time.

I always tried to convey to the wife and kids that you don't explain or leave a message so that someone can understand you. On the contrary, you should explain or leave a message so that it is impossible for anyone to misunderstand you!!!!

Woe is me. After all these years, it rarely happens!! šŸ˜ž

skeets, I'm right there with you when it comes to phone messages. I receive multiple phone calls a day at work and there are many times I can't understand what the person is saying. Either they talk really quick or they have such heavy accent that I can't understand what they are saying. I will have my admin come in and listen to the message to see if she can understand, sadly many times she can't.

So, most of the time the phone calls go unresponded to till they return the call and I'm in the office to actually answer it. Although, on more than one occasion, I have asked them to get me someone that speaks English, usually gets me hung up on.

Plus, I love when I do get a message from a person and they ask for me to return their call, but they leave no phone number.
