I am a new owner of a L235.

After reading to posts regarding tach trouble shooting I went at mine.:( the cable is broken 3" from the bottom, The flat tab is atill intact in the housing.

The trouble is I can not get at the gauge to remove the cable. I have a cab on the tractor. I removed the 4 bolts that hold the dash down, but I can't seem to get it high enough to remove the panel and the other end is covered by the fuel tank.

Is there something I am missing??? or do I need to tear alot of parts out to remove??

I have been looking at tach's on line and they look like they have 2 wide tabs on the sides that hold the gauge in the dash??????

I think I can pull the dash ahead far enough to push on the tabs with a screw dirve and pop out the gauge. I am going to try this tommrrow unless someone says it wount work.

I have even though of cutting out the gauge and reinstalling it with a nice little aluminum plate.

When I first got mine last year, I had to replace the cable. Can't remember exactly, but I know that I was able to do it by just removing the dash with the four screws. It was a pita because there is not much room to work with, but with disconnecting everything that could be disconnected, plus trying different approaches, I was able to finis it off (old) and on (new).

So essentially, it can be done that way, not to say that someone else has figured out an easier way to do it.
