My King Kutter rotary mower has a "swivel yoke assembly" on the top link of the 3PH. It provides a hinge for the top link connection. Can anyone explain what benefits this has???

If it's what I'm imagining by your description, it's a top link that will collapse and allow the mower to rotate up. Same idea as a chain top link. With a rigid top link, you have a long rear overhang, and when the grade changes, you want the mower to come up, not try to support the weight of the tractor on the tail wheel. That is a ton of leverage on your top link.

Yep I agree with MagKarl it pretty much acts like a floating hitch so you dont break the hog or tractor in half and you can mow without scalping the ground and taking out chunks of dirt when bush hoging.
