I changed the HST Trans oil Filter with P/N HHTA0-59900. It did not have a magnetic filter nor did the new one. I was also given a HH670-37710 Suction Filter. Where is this filter located? I see no reference in the manual except on the service interval index showing hydraulic oil filter to change at 400. I thought on the GL 5240 hydraulic and transmisson oil where in the same system.

The Hydraulic filter is on the right side of the transmission and it should have a magnet in it. The HST filter is on the left side and it does not have a magnet. Sure, they both filter the same oil but the HST filter is a finer filter to further protect the HST components, it also is a heavier constructed filter because it operates under full HST charge pressure.
