I have a b7100 I bought new in 1992. I have never been able to get the suction filter out. The drain plug on the opposite side came out but not the strainer. At the time I believe I was using a wrench with a cheater and was afraid I would ruin the strainer so I just changed the fluid and filter. Recently I bought a 26mm six point socket and thought I would try that. Would it be better to use it with an impact wrench or a breakover bar and cheater? Thanks.

Use a breaker bar and a cheater if needed.
If you strip the nut, use a pipe wrench and then replace it with a new one.
