I have had my 3540 for 6 months and since new the bucket level indicator rod on the LA724 FEL was always noisy and bugged me. Yesterday I had the old light bulb come on. Had some poly tubing laying around so I found a piece that was 3/8 ID, sprayed a little oil in and it slid right on the rod. In short here's what i did.
1] mark and remove rod
2] ream out the guide bracket and deburr
3] slide the poly tubing over the rod and 3" past mark
4] reinstall rod trough guide and into connecting tube, tubing will go into tube but it's tight. if to tight sand down to fit
I also added a lock collar just cause i had it but if the poly tubing is 3" inside the connecting tube it probably not necessary.
So far there is NO more screeching!!!!
