Have a 2000 Kubota 2400 diesel . used it yesterday and ran fine. Put in the garage and tank was half full thus I added a couple of gallons,
Tried to start it and it ran for 1 or 2 seconds and stopped. I took the filter out and cleaned it and tried again. Also cleaned the air filter. same old problem.
It starts for two seconds and stopped. If i keep the key turned on it will run but the second i let go of the key, it stops.
ANY suggestions what to do?? Appreciate any suggestions. Thanks Joe B.

Joe, that sounds like a fuel cut-off solenoid. Your switch is not keeping it energized. I'd start by troubleshooting the switch.

Thanks Mark, I am not a mechanic thus is this something I need to take to a dealer ship to look at or is this something I can purchase and install ?? Joe

You can purchase and install the switch or the fuel shutoff solenoid or any of a number of other parts. Before you start just throwing (expensive) parts at the problem you should try to learn how to troubleshoot your existing parts. A cheap multimeter can go a long way there.

It's more likely to be the hold coil in the solenoid ( that solenoid has 2 internal coils, pull in and hold) than it is to be a switch issue.

First check fuses and see of any have popped.

A simple test light will also go a long way to helping you get it fixed cheaply!

I agree heartily with the two above. Get a multimeter or a test light and see what happens to the voltage at the cut-off solenoid before you spend money on parts.

I had to replace the switch on my BX, and it was 85 bucks!

Get that hood up and look for somehting near your fuel pump that has a wire or two going into it. Get a helper to turn the switch on and start the engine while you watch for voltage. Let us know what happens.

If you need more basic information about what you’re looking for or at just ask. No one wants to give unnecessary advice and sometimes we think you have more ability or knowledge than needed to accomplish the task. You really don’t need a lot of skill to troubleshoot this so don’t be shy about trying. You can’t damage it easily by the troubleshooting steps.
