We just have layers…3 Orpington (these are our favorite), 2 We had a couple of buckeyes that were mice eating machines, but the Orpington get after the mice to and are better layers IMO.

Yes, I really like Black Orpington's. Also Production Red's. A few Silver Spangled Hamburg's for medium sized eggs.

We have Australorps for eggs and now American Bresse for meat.
Our goal is to have a minimal feed bill.

:unsure: what are you feeding them?
Right now they are on Rural King Meat Bird Starter. Once they get through this bag they will go on meat bird crumbles from RK

Growers that worked for Bo Pilgrim told my 6 weeks was the target to be ready for slaughter. At 8 weeks Pilgrim broke even and grower make very little profit. Chickens i've raised didn't have all their feathers at 6 weeks.

Week six. Headed for a mid Oct processing. They are now cleaning out the 3 feeders in 12 hrs and going through almost 6 waters in 24 hrs
