I only offer this as the products are readily available to me at local tractor supply.

Left is a biocide. Right is a supplement to boost cetane, lubricity, and help with gelling for winter months. I use a similar product in a silver bottle during the summer.

Great! Thanks for the tip. We don’t get cold enough here to worry about gelling, but the biocide is going in the regular rotation for sure!

Many folks use no additives, others have other brand preferences. Both choices are fine with me.

For microbial growth to occur, there needs to be water in the diesel.

No water, no growth.

While I doubt I have water in my tank, I don't know that definitively. Thus the treatment solely as a preventive measure.

If a had a blockage due to microbial slime when there's 3 feet of snow on the ground I wouldn't be a happy...
