Looking for anyone's experience on a gps tracking app to use while spraying. Don't want to spend $ on one of it doesn't work.

Thanks

Unless you spend a lot of money on specialized equipment it's not going to be accurate enough. A phone may be accurate to several feet but you need something that's more like a couple of inches. Is this a boom sprayer? Have you used it before or just starting? Spraying herbicide? How many acres?

I'm assuming your concern is avoiding gaps and too much overlap. I've been using a boom sprayer for several years now and I might can offer some advice if you're doing something similar. Knowing how far apart my tracks need to be gets me close enough, but I still will follow up the next week with a backpack or handheld sprayer if there's anything I miss.

I have read about putting dawn dish soap in sprayer. The suds leave a visible trail so you can see where you sprayed. As i said, i read this. Have not tried it.

on the end of the sprayer, mount a pipe or piece of metal to cut a small trench/furrow in the soil. on your next pass, line up the other end of your spray boom to the trench/furrow. not scientific, but will help..

I have a boom less sprayer on my atv and it is about a 15 foot wide pass. Yes missing spots and overlap is what I deal with. 6 acres of lawn.

I just watch the tracks the tires leave. Very clear in wet (or growing) grass and dirt (not desert dry hard pack)

That's probably not enough to justify purchasing expensive equipment. You're probably just going to have to practice getting your distances right. Maybe make some passes, then measure the distance between the tracks.

I've found it better to make passes at the ends for turn around areas, then make back and forth passes next to each other turning the sprayer off at the ends, rather than making smaller concentric circles like you might do while mowing. Don't know if that would work in your lawn though. Making turns with the sprayer on always leaves gaps.

If you are spraying on a lawn, why not a bit of food coloring (green of course) to your solution. Then you can see where you've sprayed and it will wash away with the next rain.

I've seen some landscaping companies use a dyed solution when spraying.

No more then you're spraying, you could cut the spray volume in half and simply cross spray the best you can. That will eliminate missed areas, even if some might get just a half dose! Just takes a little longer in the seat!

I had a guy doing a little work for me and he sprays for an ag company for a living and he said there was an app he used on his personal stuff that was pretty accurate but we had a falling out before I could get the name of the app. Was hoping someone here that had experience. I try alot of above items but will try a few more or might just buy an app and try it out and report back.

Thanks all
