My local dealer (a hardware store) has several of these in stock, but they don't clearly show the model #. The boom arm appears stockier than the Compact model which I suspect is designed for the small tractors like my B7610.

I know you wouldn't want to put a a small auger on a big tractor, but how about putting a big auger on a small tractor?

For auger size, I thought I'd try 9" for some fencing work I plan. What happens if you have too much auger for your power? You go slow? The tranny wears fast?

I've ran my dad's standard size auger with my B6100 and used all three of his bits with no problem at all. He has a 6 9 and 12 inch bits.

I ended up with a King Kutter PHD-09L (which I suspect is out of production). One of the ads I found suggested it was made by Leinbach and it looks much like most diggers. This one is only rated to 40" deep which is probably a good choice for my B7610. With the 3PT at full height, I have about 6-8" underneath the auger. I had concerns about clearance, but this seems to work fine. I'll probably buy a 12" auger to go with it, but to be used carefully in soft soil.
