Hi guys,

During the winter and then corona era, I worked on a number of projects for our orchards and vineyards...

Wanted to upgrade the atomizer sprayer to solenoid valves so. I can turn one or both sides of the sprayer off in the cabin... used 150 usd solenoid valves (12vdc, 1/2” rated to 10 bars) for proof of concept... it worked awesome but the valves did not hold up as expected.

Researched what valves to get, opted for USSolid.com valves, rated to 16 bar of pressure, awesome, orderd a pair, installed them... they worked great for an hour, overheated and then they were unconsistent.

i was aware of them not being 100% cycle time, but I figured they can run (energized) for an 20-30 mins and then by the time I fill up, they will cool down and I can run them for another 20-30 mins, well, I was mistaken... they can run tops 20 mins In total.

nyhow, does anyone know of a company that sells good solenoid valves, preferably normally open, 1/2”, rated up to 20 bar of pressure?

thank you.
regards,

I have used Asco solenoid valves for decades.
Asco

Their coils are designed for continuous operation.

I suggest you call and talk to their tech people.

I use a lot of the tee jet 12 volt ball valves. I haven't had any fail. About 200 dollars for a 3/4".

Not sure the brand but Agri Supply sells sprayer valves I have used with good results. Only issues I have had with them has been due to not cleaning well before storing for the winter and they are stuck.

these seam to be motorized, 3-5 sec closing and opening time... I actually considered those but the problem is, they loose purpose due to the time, I know 3-5 sec does not sound long but if the calve is closing long, wasting expensive material and if it is not opening quick, I have to stop with the tractor and wait it out to open...

I will try to source a normally open Solenoid valve instead, 90% of the time the valve needs to be open...

Would you mind linking the valves you bought from them? Thank you.

Just an update, after 4 attempts getting the right valves from different manufacturers, most failed after a short period of time... I lucked out with these... 12 volt version, chemical resistant and required pressure reaistant:

Perhaps this will help someone else converting their sprayer to solenoid valves. It made my work much easier and saves me a ton of material.
