There's a "like new" Erskine 725rp for sale near me, but at $5,500 it would make no sense at all. The seller says "like new" but sure doesn't look like it. Regardless, I'm not interested in spending that kind of money and/or having to sell my current blower for an incremental improvement in one aspect of removing snow. I'm good with what I have.

Yeah, and the good news with a rear blade is that it has a function other than just moving snow. If you buy a blower and don't like it for removing snow you're kind of stuck and would have to sell it. I sold the rear blade RB3796 that I bought new with the MX6000 open station. It was a beast, and I regret selling it even though I got all of the $1,750 back. If I ever decided to buy another rear blade I'd want this 96" hydraulic model from Everything Attachments. Not a cheap option but I'm a fan of hydraulics on implements.

We get LOTS of snow here where I am, and BELIEVE IT OR NOT I probably put more hours in the seat in the winter compared to the summer, so highly value a front snowblower (hey--everyones' needs are different, right?) A snowblower isn't worth 2 cents in Florida for example. ;-)
There are times however, when I use my rear blade in the snow and it's the proper tool for the job compared to my treasured blower.
That and I can also use the 'blade a little in the summer.
Aren't tractors great?
We are expecting a big snowstorm here in New Brunswick this weekend and that would normally have me cringing, imagining how sore I'll be come Sunday night (walk behind blower + long driveway) but instead, I can't wait to fire up the wee beast and blower !
