Yesterday's snow clearing at -5F was about the coldest I have been out there as it is rare to get a meaningful dumping of snow with temps that cold. While we have a few mornings in the -20 to -35F each year I am not choosing to be outside longer than a few mins.

I was actually pretty toasty for the 2 hours I was out there. Long johns, Carhartt bibs, good socks, toe warmers and Muck boots. Wool base layer, electric heated vest, Carhartt hoodie and waterproof shell. Even though I was covered in some snow here and there I was toasty.

I adjust my rear blade a bunch during a clearing run, and I adjust my box blade a bunch in the non-winter months, I want nothing to do with dealing with a cab door each time I get on and off. If I were spending hours upon hours in a field in the summer etc. a cab might make sense but not for my use case......

...THEN I noticed the icicles hanging from the ROPs of pigdots OPEN STATION … and thought….” Now THAT Guy has BALLS. …they may have ICICLES on them…. but HE HAS THEM!

…AND THEN IT HIT ME…. WHY ONE REASON I live down in Texas... is..I may now be OLD….but, for Warmth… THIS STILL WORKS FOR ME!

Living in an Arctic Blast zone I can always put more clothes on, but in Texas I could only take so many off.

Got it done this morning. Racked up 1.5 hrs total for one pass last night and another today. We got 13" total, the last inch was sleet. That's THIRTY inches for January - a LOT for this area:

That seven-foot blade is plenty for the L2500, but I'm VERY pleased with the traction from the new, fluid-filled rear tires. Very little slippage. I can clear 8" of snow off the drive in one pass (down and back up). With the blade at an angle, I have to countersteer (to the L in this pic) to counteract the torque from the blade. You can just see the house through the trees to the R of the tractor, which gives some perspective of the slope I'm dealing with.

It was in the single digits all day yesterday. Was 20F when I started the tractor this morning. Cranked over about 4 revs before it fired. Battery is 7 years old. I find that, if I turn the key back off after it starts, it will charge up enough while it's running to crank OK a week later.

Unlike you, I decided to wait until the snow stopped, haha. Got right at a foot of snow on top of the inches of sleet that were still on the ground. At least this snow was light and cleared MUCH more easily than the sleet last week. Gotta give the little BX credit, it handled it like a champ, though 4wd was needed going up and down the steeper hills.

We have had over 2 ft the last week. A little lake snow everyday adds up. The plles along the road are almost 8 ft now. That's my mailbox sticking out. The plow drivers are amazing

havent had much in the way of substantial snow so far. but last round that i got the blower out.

I cleaned up a couple inches yesterday. That wind turned a couple inches into nice drifts. Should have put the blower on this year but didn't need it the last 2 years so didn't bother with it.

Reading thru this thread…. The FIRST thing that I noticed was the pics some of our friends… (bragging on how they dealt with snow) …. pics of their snow-blowers mounted on CAB-equipped tractors.
THAT is when I thought: “ Geesh! Some of these rich-guys with Cabs ..simply don’t know what us REAL MEN do with Our Open Station tractors.”

I blew snow from 1985 to 2021 on an open station tractor. I won’t bore everyone with my list of clothing I walked out the door with. After 36 years I now continually turn the heat down while using bare hands, no hat, and maybe a light jacket while listening to something entertaining. I don’t think I could go back to the old ways.

Did drift/pile management on Sunday. Looking at those 7’ blades on smaller tractors than mine has me thinking. I’d also like to do the angled chute to get more throw out of the blade. My issue is once I get 12-14 on the ground I have created a sunken path that is hard to get snow flung out of. It also makes a great place for Mom N to drop her blown snow.
