Doing my 50 hour service on my BX23S this afternoon and found a whole bunch of chewed up silicone on the HST strainer, just like these folks did.

(Couldn't post link, search "Lots of silicone on the trans strainer at 50 hrs" on this forum)

I have cleaned it as well as I can (and I'm a meticulous person) but there may be some tiny tiny pieces inside the screen that I just haven't managed to get out. Do I understand correctly that the spin-on filter is next before the hydro pump? Or do I absolutely have to get every speck off. Some of it is very difficult to remove, absolutely tiny and right in the holes of the screen itself. I've used air, a toothbrush, my fingernails, and some of it just won't move. And every time I rinse in diesel and blow from the outside of the screen with air a couple more tiny pieces will be in the open end up by the o-ring that I pick out.

Well thats good thats what the filter is there for, I wouldnt worry to much about it. It doesnt make it through the filter screen those little tiny pieces should not hurt anything

Could be 3 Bond instead. Kubota uses 3 Bond when mating assemblies. Don't believe it is anything to get alarmed about.

My M's don't even have a screen pre filter, just 2 spin on filters and a magnet inside one.

Yeah, not worried too much, put it back together, only thing I wanted to make sure of was that the spin on filter on the front of the trans comes after the screen and before the pump - to protect the pump.

I know nothing about HST tractor transmissions, but I know the transmission in my truck (old Dodge 545RFE) has a pickup filter and then a different filter for the return from the cooler - it is NOT inline with the pickup filter. Wanted to make sure it wasn't a situation like that - that the spin on filter was on a return or something.

Thanks for the responses - I'm going to drop by the dealer tomorrow just to mention what I found in case of any warranty issues down the road. I'm sure it'll be fine, machine's working fine used it to move about 5 yards of wet clay soil after the service and no problems...

Silicone worms are normal on first and second servicing. It's just manufacturing "debris".

Yes, it's Threebond sealant...aka silicone.
