The Gear numbers on the Tranny are hard to read (maybe cause Im getting old:D ) and appear to be in a very odd sequence. Does anyone have a shift diagram of an L225. Wish it had a H and L for tranny and not just PTO. Even first is little fast, or I'm not in first??

Well CRAPOLA.. Just realized I fat fingered. Meant for this to go in the "Tractor Operating" forum and not "Implements & Attachments".

Moderator / Admin (whom ever that is) Will you please move this to the correct forum. Thanx in Advance.

Tractordata shows your tractor with an eight speed transmission. There should be a high low range lever on the left side of the seat.

http://www.tractordata.com/farm-tractors/001/2/8/1280-kubota-l225-transmission.html

On my L1501, reverse is left and back (torwards seat), 1st is center forward, 2nd is center back, 3rd is right forward, 4th is right back.
Well "Shiver me Timbers"! Mucho Thanx Darin!, On minz thar is a High Low where you say. It's in high. This may also explain the funky numbering on the Tranny. One may be for H and the other for L. Are these usually both denoted on the tranny? Searched for a user manual but can't find it in Kubota Books online.

One of my rev is in far up, left. are the two R often above and below each other or left and right of each other?

It's a four speed forward, one reverse, with a hi/low selector. Gives 8 forward speeds and two reverse speeds.

Where it gets interesting is on mine it has the extra low range selector for creeper. Gives me 16 forward speeds and three reverse speeds. On mine it won't go into reverse if both selectors are in low. Which is fine. If it's in reverse and creeper mode, it's so slow, i could go inside, make a sandwich, have a cold one, and it might have gone 20 ft. Same with 1st gear with both selectors in low range.

Oh you lucky dog. I'm vaguely familiar with Crawler/Creeper gears and High Low Ranges from experience with Unimogs. On my Mog with H&L range I did have 2 Rev. gears when in low if I recall. Only one rev. gear in H. Had to sell the Mog ;( ;( ;(

If kubota Tranny is anything like an MB Unimog then these are 4 gear selector tranny boxes. The shift logic plate has a high and low for mating the main 4 drive gears with either a high range or low range gear. Creeper/Crawler are a complete different set of gears added too the tranny which also are accessible for mating with the 4 drive gears for even lower uumph.

Pretty similar. It has the standard hi/low shifter to the left of the seat. And has another lever that sits flat on top of the tranny, by the pto lever. Thats the shifter for the creeper gears.
It also has a 4 speed pto, starting at 540 and goes to around 1000 to 1100. Not sure of the exact speeds other then the 540.

Just to answer the original question directly:

The transmission markings are doubled up since there is a high low selector.

For example say you have a four speed transmission and the high/low selector:
The transmission is labeled "1/5", "2/6", "3/7" and "4/8"

In LOW you have 1, 2, 3 and 4
In HIGH you have 5, 6, 7, 8

ahhhhhhhh. now that makes since. the complexity of numbers being a bit out of focus, so tightly grouped, and the x/y, completely blinded me from the simplicity. :p

Just to note for others; on my L225 there is no "/" but a "." so it is R1.2, 1.5, 2.6, 3.7, 4.8 Granted the "." is placed at half character height and not the bottom as a normal period/decimal is placed.

now who is the moderator or admin so can get this thread moved to the proper forum??
