shibaura kubota is it the same ??

hi all , have cracked the cylinder head on my g18 mower (d722e)
lookin at all options . my local scrap man tells me that shibaura is made under licence from kubota and he has an 18hp 3 cylinder shibaura engine that should slip right in .
has anyone tried this or can advise me further thanks matt

I do believe they are in no way related to one another. A Kubota is a Kubota threw and threw and do not make other brands. Zen-Noh trators built from Kubota just with another sticker on the hood. Thats it!

Nope, the only thing you may find is that the engine in you machine may be a kubota unit but thats it, if you found another engine of the same spec, if its a kubota lump that is, it may well fit.
other than that , the two brands are not the same.

I bought a 8kw stationary diesel generator set. When I first looked at it the engine looked like a Kubota. I is a 1ltr Shibaura. STOUT engine but a real bear and EXPENSIVE to get parts for it. I did a top end on it and water pump and spent a lot of money. Runs like a top though.
