Have 2014 Kubota BX 1870 with 54" mower deck, with low hours. I have question about a rumbling noise I hear when I engage the PTO.

Deck was last serviced serviced March 2017.I don't really feel any vibration, and as I bump up the rpm it is still there, maybe just not as loud.Tried running the ptos without the deck on the tractor and I don't here it.

I have went over deck and all seems to be in good shape. I was hoping maybe someone could give me a bit of insight as to if this is normal for the tractor and mower deck?

And if not normally, point me in the right direction as to what it might be.

Thanks

Might be normal. Might be unbalanced blades.

Check the blades. My son used my mower and when I got it back there was a rumbling. I looked under it and he had hit something and broke 1 1/2" off the end of one of the blades. I put a new blade on it and the rumbling stopped.

If the rumble is in heavy grass,,, yep check the blade and make sure they are tight, a loose blade will slow down and everything keeps moving along, and the shaft and stuff will turn and make a rumbling sound,,and a really dull blade will kinda make the same sound in heavy grass too

It can also be something as insignificant as something (like a stick) jammed up inside the house rubbing a blade/shaft.
The first thing to do is inspect it (tractor off, pto diengaged), look for damaged blades or a bent housing (from hitting a boulder) and rotate parts, see if there is a point that it feels stiff or it feels like it is hitting something. Then start to look closer.

I would also verify that the PTO connection is snapped/locked onto mid-PTO of the tractor.
Also check oil level in gearbox of the mower.
First thought is blade or some kind of blockage under the deck like the other guys said.

I gave my blades a quick touch up and now my deck makes a different sound. I swapped in new blades a few days later and noise is different again.

On my 3 point mower inadvertently placed pto in the wrong gear and deck was noisy. And tractor kept powering out.

Thanks for the replies guy's.I had already pulled the deck and have went over it a to z. All look's in good order.

Guessing it is what it is.I have greased and resharpened and checked gear box oil level. again all was good.

It must just me.I had been using my Cub Cadet 3000 series with shaft drive deck for years's, so guessing it's just me getting use to the Kubota !!!!!!!

Thanks Again
