Hey Guys,

Looking at buying a used Camo 2013 RTV 1140R-A from Dealer. 300 Hours, all service done at this dealer, lots of accesories (windshield, roof, Light bar front and back, winch, carry rack on front, spare tire, etc.

Tailgate has minor damage but nothing bad. Looking to use this on the jobsite than when done bring it back to our 16 acres.

They won't move off of $12000. Is that a fair price??
Also, read on the net that you can do something to modify the auto/breaking or whatever you call it. Has anyone done that with success?

Haven't looked at the Kubota's specifically but, the UTV market is smoking hot right now. I just bought a used Polaris after months of searching and its insane what these things are going for now both new and used. People think nothing of buying a 6-pack Polaris and putting tracks on it along with doors and a cab. Some of these things go well north of $35K.

One major consideration is the environment its been operated in.

Polaris and Kubota are having air intake issues. The air filter is so close to the "dust zone" under the bed that the filters are filling up in dusty conditions. Some filters are bypassing and the manufacturers are modding some with snorkels to get into cleaner air. Pull your filter and check past it for evidence of dust. Also, check the exhaust for signs of oily residue indicating severe engine wear. If they haven't done an oil service on it recently, pull the dipstick and check the oil condition against the time since the last change. A guy in Australia with a Polaris diesel had his engine replaced in less than a year due to filter bypassing. Reportedly, Kubota is having the same issues.

Options add a lot to the value. If it has a clean service history and is in great shape, that seems like a fair price.

Just got this new 900 for $12500. Two other quotes were $13500 and $13800 with same accessories. Maybe ask them to quote a new machine and try another dealer as well.

I found instructions on the web somewhere to adjust the automatic hydraulic braking. It wasn't a big deal. Can't tell you exactly how I did it now, but under the rear of the dump bed, there is a fitting that holds a small piston with a captured spring and when you get it out you can back off the screw and relieve the spring pressure. Made my RTV 900 a much kinder beast to live with.
