I jacked up the front right tire on my Kubota x900 to spin it looking for a leak. Didn’t find the leak but that doesn’t matter. With the parking brake off, in neutral, 4 wheel drive off the tire does not free spin. I could turn it but it took a little force. Should the front tires free spin easily like a car will do? Sometime when I take off it seems like it takes some throttle to get it going. I wondered if the brakes are out of adjustment. This unit is less than a year old.

You are spinning a front axle/differential system that takes some small effort.
The foot pedal is not a throttle. It is a HST control…which the throttle is tied to. When you press the pedal the swash-plate in the transmission supplies hydraulic pressure to the hyd-motor. Only after that is requested does the throttle attempt to keep up sufficient engine rpm to serve the HST request.

depends on how much effort it takes. The front brakes are wet brakes, basically it's a disc clutch assembly that is applied to stop the machine. Like any disc clutch (including an automotive style multi-speed automatic transmission), it is not a freewheeling system, there is always some drag. Secondly you are trying to turn the axle and part of the differential. Stack the hub/brake drag with the diff drag, and you are going to have some effort to turn the wheel. That's normal.

If you have to use both hands and it takes a ton of force to turn it, I might be a little more concerned. It's kind of one of those things, if you have been around them enough you know what's normal and what's not.

Also if it's new it will have more drag than one that has some miles on it.
