Here is a solid video that compares finish, versus rotary cutter, versus flail.

Certainly can use a flail mower for cutting rough brush but that is not its forte and you pay a lot more for that privilege.

I had luck finding Woods brand here in KY. I bought a Brush bull 30.72 for an L4701.

We replaced all of our Land Pride 18 and 20 series cutters with Brown 410 series cutters- night and day in build quality and durability
And considerably more expensive, but that's not surprising when comparable Brown models are about 50% heavier than the Land Pride equivalent. The deck material is 7 gauge for goodness sake. At 900lb the 415 5ft model weighs about the same as my RCR1884 which is a 7ft rotary cutter!

Those heavy duty cutters are great if you’re cutting heavy brush, but my LandPride cutter works fine for my use: grass, light brush and small diameter saplings. No need to buy that heavy of a cutter if you have no need for it.

Check Face Book Marketplace for brush cutters. In my area local equipment dealers post new and trade in items. Some good deals on good quality equipment, some is just junk.

Yeah, I have no complaints at all about the RCR1884. It works very well for me and my needs.
