First my tractor came with several implements. The 3 pt on the rotary cutter was welded solid. Obviously the toplink portion broke soon. Been using it a couple years more or less a pull type. Tailwheel fell off and broke the shaft. I bought a old (deck rusted out for parts. Got the replacement 3pt hitch on, the rear lift brackets (on the cutter) are chains. My question is how much slack should those chains have?

You want enough slack so the tail wheel stays on the ground when mowing, but short enough when you lift it, it will lift.
There is no tried and trued dimension.
