To add to the question...went to the workshop manual and it says,
" Thermostat Assembly 1. Remove the thermostat cover mounting screws, and remove the thermostat cover (1). 2. Remove the thermostat assembly (3).

(When reassembling)
• Apply a liquid gasket (Three Bond 1215 or equivalent) only at the thermostat cover side of the thermostat cover gasket (2). What does this mean?
• Apply a liquid gasket (Three Bond 1215 or equivalent) to the water flange 1 (4) and flange 2 (5) "

So looking up on Amazon I find:
Threebond Of America Rtv Silicone Gray Eng Sealer Tb1215
and it says in the description:
  • Liquid gasket
  • Use in fits Case to fits Case Where NO GASKET is used

The WSM and the description seem to be in conflict.

What should I do? Thoughts?

BTW, I also found that
LocTite/Permatex #599 Ultra-Grey and 3M T-3 Silicone (black) #08670 are both equivalents to Threebond 1215.

Curious if you got any resolution on this…
