I have an older g6200. Starts fine and the red "dash" light comes on.
When the engine cranks the light goes off and soon after running (10 minutes or so) it runs out of fuel. The light comes back on after it dies and you can start it up and go another 10-15 minutes. Apparently not getting power to the fuel pump when it is running but gets power when it is NOT running ? or that would be my guess...What could cause this?

Need help please...

Not familiar with your model, but on mine, the red light is not an "on" light, it's the oil pressure warning light- so your description fits that function perfectly. It does sound like you are running out of fuel. Fuel filter, plugged fuel tank vent, bad fuel?

search in here about Air leaks and air vent fuel cap (vacuum builds in tank and prevents fuel movement)

Thanks for the reply. The red light comes on when the key is turned on.
It also activates the fuel pump. Since it turns off when cranked the fuel pump quits pumping (runs for a while then runs out of fuel). When it dies or is shut down the pump pumps the fuel back in and you can get some more run time.

Checked the fuel cap and changed filter (do not think that is the issue since it gets fuel when "not running")

Actually opposite. If your not venting properly your getting a vacuum in the tank that over powers the suction of the pump not allowing fuel to flow. when you turn off the tractor the vacuum is lessened and allows fuel to flow normal by gravity.

Common test is to just about before the time your tractor would normally quit due to what ever issue this is..... remove the fuel cap. If she keeps running, especially if you hear a woosh of air rush into the tank as well....... then that is large potential your problem.

Check your wiring diagram or user manual to verify light your bring up is fuel pump. Myself... and Im no expert but I do believe that light has not got anything to do with fuel pump. Should be an oil pressure light. When starting an engine oil pressure is low... obviously cause the oil pump is not pumping. Once engine is running the light goes off...... if it were to come back on standard operating procedure is to immediately shut her down and see why you have no oil pressure.

So consider rethinking things since as LilFoot said earlier and myself both think that probably is an oil pressure light. This renewed thinking may lead you better to your solution...... or way off on a tangent lol.

I realize this is an old post... but I feel the need to make clear that is NOT an "on light"

The "red light" you speak of is not an 'ON LIGHT'. It is an oil-pressure light and should only come on when key is in the "on" position AND the engine is NOT running.

As soon as engine starts, the oil-pressure inside the engine turns the indicator OFF. This is normal and expected operation.

With that said, the oil-pressure light has very little to do with your fuel lift pump (behind right-rear wheel).

Lets concentrate on your fuel lift-pump. You should hear it 'clicking' when the key is ON (engine not running) I assume you DO NOT hear the lift-pump running.

In looking at the online wiring-diagram, we can make the following conclusions:
*) The oil-pressure light coming on tells you that the main fuse is OK.
*) The oil-pressure light coming on tells you that the secondary fuse is OK.
*) There are NO other fuses in the circuit.

Next steps"
*) You need to check for voltage AT THE LIFT PUMP.
-- If you have voltage, replace pump
-- If you do not have voltage, use online wiring diagram or trace wires to isolate the issue.
